Parish Ministries

There are many ways to serve at St. Andrew's and thanks to many who volunteer their time and talents, many tasks are accomplished.

The Parish Caring Committee ministers to members of the parish and others who are ill or have some special need.  Examples of this ministry include:

  • Cards are sent each month to the sick and shut in of the parish

  • Rides are provided for any who do not have transportation to the church

  • Rides are provided to doctor appointments, shopping, and other necessary things that a person cannot otherwise do on their own.

  • Baby sitting and house sitting can be provided to a family during funeral services of a family member

  • Meals are prepared and served in the Fellowship Hall after funerals for families that want them

  • Singles 'get-togethers' are planned

  • Shut-ins are remembered with small gifts and flowers on special holidays

Prayer is a very important part of the St. Andrew's family life. If you or some of you know needs prayer, pastoral care, or other needs:

For short term crisis, or emergency prayer requests:
The Prayer Tree (Call Mary Seel 729-7991).
For long term prayer requests for wholeness and healing - Monday Prayer Group -Call Norma Cerand 754-2651 or Lucille Giles 748-7968.
For inclusion in Prayers of the People on Sunday mornings for eight weeks  call Ruth McKinley 785-6092.
For prayer, phone call, visit or appointment with the Rector --Call the Church Office - 785-6092 or home 729-7991.
To pass along information to the parish or for help with other kinds of needs or request –Call Ruth McKinley 785-6092.

Outreach -Committee members provide a variety of help to the community and to the parish.  Many of our parishioners are involved as volunteers with Meals on Wheels, Blood Banks, nursing home programs and visits, Thanksgiving and Christmas baskets for the needy, Habitat for Humanity, church planting in Tanzania to name a few programs.

Our Music Ministry is led by Donna Halbert.  The choir welcomes all adults and middle and high school students. Practice is 7 PM Wednesdays.

The Fellowship Committee plans the dinner after the Annual Meeting each January, continental breakfasts, Shrove Tuesday Pancake Supper, Maundy Thursday Soup and Bread Supper and a Fall event.
Coffee Hour
after our 9 AM service occurs every Sunday. Please stop in the Fellowship Hall and let us greet you and welcome you to our church family.

Evangelism Committee

This dedicated group of individuals come up with inspiring activities that bring people to St. Andrews and brings the Lord to the world.  An example of a recent event which drew a nice crowd was the visitation of 'Abe and Mary Todd Lincoln' on February 12.

Shepherds

Members of St. Andrew's want to make visitors feel welcome.  Shepherds are stationed at the door to greet members and newcomers alike.  They will ask visitors to sign our guest book so our pastor, Fr. Tony, can pay them a visit in the future.

Altar Guild

This group of dedicated people make sure the altar is set up and taken down each Sunday and that the proper linens and communion necessities are in good order.

Lay Readers and Lay Eucharistic Ministers

Each Sunday several dedicated parishioners participate in the service by reading the Scripture readings and by helping to serve communion.  Others take the communion elements to shut ins after the service.

Sunday School Teachers

St. Andrew's is blessed to have a dedicated Christian Education Director, Karen Carlton, who has a 'staff' of teachers who help with Sunday School, Children's Chapel and, in the summertime, Vacation Bible School.

Vestry

Serving on the church board is a tough job but a rewarding one.  When people are elected to the Vestry, they serve for a 3 year term.  Each year, a third of the Vestry completes their term and new members are brought on board. The Vestry assists the Rector in making all the important decisions for the parish.

Vestry meetings are held every third Monday at 7:30 pm.  These meetings are open and all are invited to attend.

Property Crew

This very important group of industrious individuals are called into action whenever something needs to be fixed on the church property.  This group also contains individuals who are handy with materials and who have made a number of useful items for worship, fellowship and more.
