| Rector’s Fisherman Letter for March 2008
Dear Friends, From what I have heard from those participating in our Doing Life Together groups this Lent, it has been great to get together with fellow parishioners and grow with them in the Christian faith. What I appreciate about the Doing Life Together series is the balanced approach to the Christian life that is in each study. Each of the studies of the Biblical purposes of the Purpose Driven Life incorporates elements of the other four. This kind of balance is a good goal for all of our lives. This Lent we have seven small groups going strong with 45 participants. Four of the five Biblical purposes are being studied, and this gives us a wonderful opportunity for the Easter season! Shortly, Lent will be over and we will have completed our 40 Days of Community. I would like to give you something to consider doing during the Fifty Great Days of Easter: stay with your group for six more weeks! During the Easter season we will be doing a church-wide focus on the one Biblical purpose that we didn’t cover in Lent, “Sharing Your Life Mission Every Day.” For six of the Sundays of Easter I will support our small groups through preaching on the weekly topics of the study. Some groups may not have completed their six-week Lenten study because of inclement weather, so why not finish up in Easter season? Then continue your good progress by jumping into our church-wide study. Here’s a challenge: grow your group! Commit as a group to continue another six weeks and invite others into your group. If you are not in a Doing Life Together group, join one during the Easter season. If you are in a group, continue on. The Christian life was always meant to be shared and this Easter season gives us a tremendous time to continue our pilgrimage of faith together. Yours in Christ, The Rev. Tony Seel Rector
